Patriots Point is a naval showcase. It is a collection of naval vessels from the WWII period, including a destroyer, a submarine, a Coast Guard cutter, and an aircraft carrier. This collection of floating museums is docked on the Charleston Harbor in Mount Pleasant, just across from the downtown Peninsula. Tours are self-guided, providing plenty of time for inspection of and reflection upon the exhibits. Pamphlets are provided detailing galleries onboard the Yorktown. Exhibits are clearly labeled.

There is also an extensive gift store located next to the ticket booths. You can visit it without purchasing admission to the vessels.

I really enjoyed exploring the Yorktown; it is probably my favorite museum attraction. It made me want to pull out the old B&W WWII films. Nostalgia runs high here. Walking through the galleries onboard the Yorktown, as well as the Clamagore, is like being right back in the 40s during WWII (not that I was ever there of course.) The exhibits have really been presented with care, providing details such as period music and newspapers.

I could spend all day exploring the details of every inch of the vessels in the Patriots Point fleet.

At $15 per person, this is a bargain. You'll spend at least 3 hours exploring the Yorktown and other vessels.
