Operated by Sandlapper Tours, the Sunset Cruise departs at approximately 6:30 from the Maritime Center downtown. The boat makes a trip down the Cooper River alongside the Battery, passing by the tip of the Peninsula and heading back up the Ashley River to the James Island Connector bridge, where it turns and heads back toward Fort Sumter. There may be some dolphins playing in the waters here at the mouth of the harbor at this time in the afternoon. The cruise then head back along the harborside paralleling Mount Pleasant, then heading into Shem Creek. After leaving Shem Creek, the boat curves back around by the USS Yorktown providing some close-ups before heading back to the Maritime Center docks.

This was another tour that was worth every penny paid. This is not really a guided tour of the harbor; there is little if any narration from the tour guides, however the purpose of this cruise is to provide a relaxing sunset cruise, which is certainly achieved.
Light hors d'ouvres are served on board, and there is a cash bar, and music provided for your enjoyment.
The highlight of this in my opinion was the cruise down Shem Creek where we got to see the shrimp boats docked alongside and the restaurants lining the waters from a different perspective. This was a real treat!

I have always looked forward to going on this cruise again and we managed to work it into the long weekend trip. We saw a number of dolphins this time and perfect views of the sunset. It's such a relaxing cruise around the harbor. Sandlapper really is the best!

This is the coolest tour I have been on.
The sunset views were awesome. The Captain and tour guide were extremely nice, funny, entertaining, and open to conversation.
I highly recommend this tour. It is well worth the money. We're already planning to go on this cruise a second time, perhaps in 2008.
