Day 1 - ThursdayI believe we arrived late on Day 1, but I didn't write a journal entry.
Day 2- FridayFriday started out as a beach Day. We visited Sullivan's Island, where you can get the best view of Charleston and the Harbor. We popped into the Fort Moultrie Museum. I think Fort Moutlrie is actually more interesting than Fort Sumter and at $3, it's hard to beat.
We ate lunch at Just Fresh, a small chain that offers tasty, lite, mostly good for your and inexpensive food. I wish there was one in Athens or even Atlanta.
The next stop was the Charleston Maritime Festival, where several Tall Ships from around the world have come to town. They were awesome. For $10 each, we were able to board all of them. We still have to visit the Indian ship though.
We dined at the Boathouse at Breach Inlet. Breach Inlet is the area between Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island. We purposely got reservations at sunset and what a view it was! Our table overlooked a small private marina and towards Charleston. The sunset was beautiful.
I chose baked tilapia with a smoked jalapeƱo sauce, a crab cake, sauteed vegetables and some very delicious stewed tomatoes and okra. Steven had a small prime rib, crab cab, wild rice and sauteed vegetables.
We then adjourned to the Waterfront park's swings that overlook the harbor and Tall Ships.
Day 3- SaturdayToday's agenda takes up to an historical walking tour later this morning, followed by lunch at Poogan's Porch, back to the Maritime Festival, and to the much anticipated Sunset Cruise in the harbor.
We finished up last night with dinner at Poe's Tavern on Sullivan's Island, then collapsed.
Today is mostly another beach day. We're headed to Kiawah Island and perhaps Folly Beach again.
Day 4 - SundayWe spent almost 3 hours at Beachwalker Park on Kiawah Island and it was a really nice beach.
We then did two things we hadn't planned to do. We were going to make this a cheaper day. Guess what. It didn't happen.
We took an hour carriage tour downtown and it was relaxing. We learned several new things about the city and architecture that had slipped by us previously.
We were able to catch the Parade of Sails in the harbor. All of the Tall Ships hoisted their sails and sailed towards The Battery. I got several nice snapshots of the main ships.
Next, we went to Vickery's on Shem Creek for dinner.
Next up will be the last night downtown on Water Front Park, followed by a little walking.
