We arrived in Charleston around 11:30 and decided to stop by Daniel Island Waterfront Park before lunch.
Daniel Island is a planned community that was developed on property that was was annexed by the city of Charleston.
It looks like a small town where all of the buildings are uniform. There seem to be a large number of investment
companies. There were a few small restaurants, but we came for the park.
Daniel Island Waterfront park is a small park along the Wando River. There is a small recreation of the surrounding area
incorporated with a water fountain. A small pier stretches into the water and a pathway meanders along the river and back towards the Family Circle professional tennis facility. Don't expect a lot to the park. It was quiet and we only say 4-5
other people. It was nice to stretch our legs after the 4 hour drive and the park!

We had lunch at the Just Fresh in Mount Pleasant. I had a simple BLT with green pee salad and a sweet green tea that was pretty good. Steven had the Franita turkey sandwich w/ artichoke Parmesan spread on toasted bread and a Caesar salad. Unfortunately, the WiFi was not working, so I'm posting this from the hotel room where we just checked in.
We drove down Wingo Way where the Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park will open on Memorial Day 2009.

We found a nice view of the new Ravanel Bridge that connects Mount Pleasant to Charleston near Patriots Point.

We stopped by Patriots Point to run into the gift shop. I picked up a nice Charleston coffee mug and a great magnet map of the whole barrier island area. I also picked up a hot tip on where to find the MP (Mount Pleasant) and SI(Sullivan's Island) bumper stickers! We're headed there now- Sand dollar gift shop, before heading to downtown Charleston for a couple hours.
