After we finished walking through Magnolia Plantation, we made our way back across town and towards Folly Beach.

The beach itself was pretty crowded. There were a few surfers.

Renovation of the fishing pier finished several months ago. Aside from a few boards here and there and the railing, I couldn't see why it took so long. It was definitely a hot day. The temperature was over 90 degrees. Unfortunately, we did not get to spend much time in the pavilion. We were ushered out, because it had been rented. I wasn't very happy about that.

We didn't stay long on the pier once we lost the shaded pavilion, so we headed towards the Morris Island Lighthouse viewing area. It's about an 8 minute drive at 35 miles per hour. Speed limits and parking areas are very strictly enforced. Once parked, it's about an 8-10 walk down a pedestrian area and across the pathway through the dune. I am always awed by the site as the lighthouse slowly rises above the sand dune. There is a rock outcropping that stretches into the sea and a low barrier wall along the right. The beach itself isn't very big and swimming is prohibited due to the dangerous tides in the area. There were a number of fisherman spread out along the area.

Afterward, we made our way back to Mount Pleasant for another meal on Shem Creek at sunset. We ordered our favorite appetizer, the fried green tomato tower. It comes with an odd mixture of sauces that work well together- pesto and marinara. My mouth waters just thinking about it

I ordered one of the days specials, Blackened Grouper with rice and broccoli. It was very good. The fish was firm, yet moist and the broccoli came with a light cheese sauce.

We weren't able to get an outside table, but the indoor table was still in a great place for a sunset.
